Caroline Jamous makes rosaries, Christian prayer objects which, like the rosary, are used to mark moments of meditation. They are made from chalk pebbles polished by the sea, collected at the foot of the cliffs of the Normandy coast. The pebble is then wrapped in kanshitsu and lacquered. Slight cavities replace the beads of the traditional rosary and allow the rhythm of the prayer to be set.
This one is covered with eggshell. The elements were placed one by one on the lacquer, which required hours of concentration.
